Between 1920 and 1936 the vehicle licence was officially known as the Road Fund Licence. The Road Fund was a British Government fund designated to pay for the building and maintenance of the United Kingdom road network. A term which is still in colloquial use today. This excise duty was ring-fenced for road construction and was paid directly into a special Road Fund from 1920 until 1937 after which it was treated as general taxation.

 

This generated large amounts of money that successive governments have used for projects other than road maintenance.

As people became aware that the money was not being used solely for road maintenance, the official name started to change, and today it is known simply as Car vehicle tax.

This con was compounded by an even bigger one, with the introduction of another tax.

Manufacturers pay tax on the products they manufacture, they pay taxes for their workers and materials. The general population is taxed on their income. Yet when they purchase something a further tax is applied – VAT, or value added tax. Now where is the added value for the average tax payer?

How did governments manage to get away with this tax in the first place, when so much tax had already been paid, prior to purchase.

We are now being faced by another con- Global Warming!

Australian scientists have narrowed the predicted range of global warming through groundbreaking new research.

Dr Roger Bodman from Victoria University and Professors David Karoly and Peter Rayner from the University of Melbourne have generated what they say are more reliable projections of global warming estimates at 2100. and are asking - Have we dramatically overestimated the effects of global warming"?

New research claims 6C rise is 'unlikely'. We all know that our weather forecasters can’t forecast the weather on a daily basis. Yet scientists are trying to tell us what the weather is going to do in a hundred years time.

The UK is embarking on a tax regime to counteract global warming, that for many people is swingeing.

Now I ask you to get out your old school atlas and find the UK, (for our American friends, who have difficulty finding anything outside of the US) it is the little island just north west of Europe.

On this little island, the green activists are clamouring for the installation thousands of wind farms. Their argument is it is to save the planet, and they are content to blight our countryside.

Our green taxes are rising higher than our wage rises, and yet countries like China and India are pumping toxins into the atmosphere without check.

Green taxes could be the next big confidence trick on the part of the Government.

We have to ask are there a group of people locked away in a darkened room, dreaming up the next government confidence trick?

Holiday Time

I will be the first to critisize politicians but the PM is also human and has a family. He is being heavily critisized by the press for going on a three day holiday to re charge his batteries after the horrific murder of one of our soldiers in Woolwich.

The question is could he personally do any more at the moment to progress the police enquiry, and the answer has got to be no. The Home Secretary remains in the country, and it is her department that is the lead department of government for this event. Although I am critical of May in her role as Home Secretary, she is for the moment a background figure as far as the enquiry is concerned.

Perhaps the sole critisism of Cameron after Wednesday's awful events, is that he could have visited Woolwich to at least shown his respects, but then you would need to ask, would he then be required to visit Afghanastan for every soldier killed whilst serving the country.

Even prime ministers deserve a holiday now and then, especially when they have a young family.

HELP FOR HEROES


After the horrific incident in Woolwich yesterday, there is one question that needs to be addressed, why did it take armed Police such a long time to respond to such a serious incident? The Home Secretary is insistent that there have been no cut backs in front line policing, well I'm sorry but if it takes 14 minutes in our capital city to get appropriately qualified policemen to the scene of  such an incident, then something is not correct. Mrs May, together with other politicians, have teams of armed police officers protecting them. Perhaps they would like to give them up, so that they could return to protecting our streets. No I thought not, they are too cowardly to go without them.

New recruits now earn 19k a year, less then they earned 20 years ago' no benefits apart from abuse, constantly attacked by this government. vilified by the press, and enquired into by the judiciary in the cold light of day, and with hindsight as their witness.
When armed officers have shot in the past, look at how they are treated. Suspended, court case, and named and shamed by the press. who wants a job like that.
It is clear, that yesterdays incident was a deliberate, unprovoked and pre-meditated murder and  terrorist activity. But, no doubt the politicians, and the judiciary, will fail us once again. A leading expert on Islam appeared on Sky News saying that we were all too quick to blame it on terrorism, and it could prove a problem for the Islamists in the UK. Well I'm sorry, but since the end of the Irish bombings, when we all accused the Irish, nearly every terrorist incident since has involved Islam.
It has emerged that at least one of these terrorists was born in the UK, but we give sanctuary to people who hate us, hate our way of life,and hate our country, and when it comes time to remove them back to their country of origin, our judiciary fail us. It is time to kick out all these preachers of hate. Successive governments have failed us, and now that UKIP is speaking some sort of truth on this matter, all three major political parties are running scared that it might cut into their gravy train.

Cameron said he was 'proud' to have backed same-sex weddings, revealing his hope that young boys at school today who think they might be gay and are being bullied will 'stand a bit taller'
Is his experience limited to gay boys at Eton. How many gay boys are in this situation compared to the number of people out of work.

Parliament has debated this matter now over several days when they could have been debating jobs and the economy. So many other urgent issues  need to be addressed. WE HAVE A HOUSING CRISIS!!!! PEOPLE ARE RELYING ON FOOD BANKS!!!! People can't afford to pay their rent and utility bills, and there is not a hope in hell of realistically buying a home for someone on the average wage let alone the minimum.

He should start to understand is that he has been a total disaster for the Tories.

Gay weddings was not on your manifesto, nor extension building without planning permission. You now offer mortgages at new rates that when examined seems to be the same system that caused the start of the credit crisis in the USA. Now you have the audacity to moan at your party MP,s who seek a referendum on membership of the EU. This was something you promised, that if you were elected you would do something about. Now you are whining, saying shut up about the EU with a promise to hold a referendum in the far distant future when you know you will never be in power.
Is there any wonder that people are flocking to support UKIP.

Just in case his advisers have got their heads buried in the sand these are the things that people in the UK are interested in;

1. Jobs
2. The Economy
3. Our NHS struggling to cope
4. Immigration and our open borders
5. A referendum on in/out of the EU

They are not interested in;

1. Gay marriage

Here we go again. Another of Cameron's "friends" denying something he said. It reminds me of the recent "plebgate" affair when it was denied that the word pleb was used to a police woman, but readily admitted that some obnoxious swear words were. Now another member of the "posh boys"  denies claims he described grass root activists as ‘mad, swivel-eyed loons’.

Downing Street has weighed in, saying the Prime Minister accepts  assurances that these comments were not made to journalists. Sound familiar????

Ben Harris-Quinney, director of the organisation Conservative Grassroots, has apparently said there was now a ‘crisis of conservatism’, with the leadership disconnected from the party on issues like gay marriage and Europe. And that certainly seems to be true, when Cameron on one hand says there is insufficient parliamentary time to debate Europe, but finds sufficient time to debate gay marriage. One subject affecting millions and the other a very small minority.


Clegg will also tell an audience today that the Coalition has presided over a fall in crime to the lowest levels since records began, producing a ‘more liberal, more  tolerant and less violent society’.

Clegg, that is a lie! If you produced un-doctored figures, the truth would be different. Instead of showing mobile phones as lost when they are in fact stolen, produces false figures. Not recording criminal damage under a certain value (£30 ?) massages the figures. Writing up an assault as no crime if the victim does not cooperate, makes it no less a crime. Old ladies who have their purses stolen from their bags on market days in some of our towns, invariable have their crime downgraded to property lost.

He will say: ‘This continuing fall in crime is one of the biggest untold success stories of this Coalition.
‘Lots of people predicted that in tough economic conditions, crime would go up, as it has done in the past. But it hasn’t and we should be proud of that fact.
If that is correct, why do you still have police protection, instead of returning those men to front line policing. If you are so confident, I wonder if you would walk alone through your local town at night, when the pubs and discos turn out.

Your problem and the problem of nearly all current politicians is that you are insulated from the world, and don't listen when your electorate speak to you.

All the mainstream parties are the same, politically correct liberals. The Conservatives have said that it's just a protest, to vote for UKIP, and will never amount to anything more. At least they realise that the population are protesting and hopefully UKIP will give the other parties a good kick up the rear end. It's about time that the mainstream parties realised that their gravy train is hitting the buffers.

I promise a referendum - Sometime - perhaps!!!

The argument about Europe has been going on for more than half a century.

In 1963. Ted Heath took us into Europe, and the British people got the chance to decide for themselves with a referendum in 1975. At that time Europe was being touted as a free trade zone, set up to facilitate trade without all the red tape of crossing borders.

Europe has changed immeasurably, evolving from a free-trade Cold War alliance into a vast semi-federal super-state, with powers that affect our daily lives. Governments are powerless to act without the approval of Europe.
Five months ago, Cameron promised a referendum on British withdrawal from the European Union — but not now. 

The referendum, he insisted, must take place in 2017, two years after the next election, giving him time to negotiate a new settlement with the EU.

The vast majority of the UK population are calling for a referendum, and it is strongly felt that a vote held now would reject Europe. This is not just confined to the UK, throughout Europe the people are calling for the end of the EU and it is only the politicians that insist on its continuance.
 In a survey conducted among more than 7,600 people in eight European countries by the Washington-based Pew Research Centre, the proportion of Europeans with a favourable view of the EU has plunged from 60 per cent last year to 45 per cent.

If Europe is so important that we need a referendum, it is bizarre to postpone the moment of choice for four years, and is seen as a purely tactical move to frustrate Nigel Farage’s UKIP,  and to to appease his backbench critics.

Although he promises a referendum after negotiating a new settlement with the EU, he has never said when these negotiations will commence.

As he himself observed, the more we bang on about Europe, the less time we devote to the other vital issues.

Then shouldn’t he go to Brussels and Berlin at the earliest opportunity, and have a frank conversation about the future of the EU, before coming back to London, to share his findings with the British people. He should stop dithering, grasp the nettle and get on with it.

Politicians lack honesty and integrity 

Senior Liberal Democrats have said that the referendum row was ‘tearing the Coalition apart’ and could result in an early General Election.

Former Lib Dem leader Sir Menzies Campbell claimed that it was ‘madness’ to consider quitting the EU.

Miliband has ruled out a referendum and accused the Tories of plunging the country into years of uncertainty over EU membership.

There is absolutely no reason why a simple in/out EU referendum cannot be held this year. The only reason Cameron is against doing so, is he knows the answer he would get from the voters, OUT!

At the moment it is not possible to hold a referendum if it hasn't been approved by Parliament. Despite an overall majority of the British population calling for a referendum, support for a bill to hold a referendum would undoubtedly fail, due to Lib/Lab and Tory cowards all being in favour of Europe.

They must know by now that the writing is on the wall for the EU, it seems to me the only option is to keep voting UKIP at every opportunity.

Next year's European election result in this country with sweeping UKIP victories may well finally focus the Tories' attention, but I doubt it. We can no longer trust any of the parties in Parliament today, they have proved time and again that they lack honesty and integrity, and cannot be trusted to represent the people.

Do politicians ever listen to the population they are elected to represent?

Three politicians who are so completely out of touch

Today Ed Miliband will give a speech lambasting the PM for his promise to hold a referendum on Europe, Miliband will also confirm that if elected in 2015, he will NOT be offering the country a referendum as HE thinks we should stay IN. Another politician Telling the electorate what they can and can't have, he will also claim that the rise of UKIP is dictating government policies whilst denying that the UNIONS are dictating his.

So far he has failed to convince the public that he would be a competent Prime Minister who is able to take tough decisions or assure voters that Labour has learned from the mistakes it made last time. Mistakes that he and his sidekick Balls are in complete denial over.

Milliband is and always will be an over opinionated sixth former trying to sound informed and intelligent, when in fact, he probably hasn't quite mastered the art of listening to the public.

Another bad week for Clegg. His party is down to single figures in opinion polls.

Clegg’s party may be in dire trouble, but with weekend use of 3,500-acre, grace-and-favour Chevening in Kent, frequent trips abroad, an ever larger retinue of state-paid aides, and his very own central London stately home, he is leading the life of an opulent aristocrat.

He has the full pomp and circumstance of high office with the chauffeured limos, bodyguards, frequent meetings with the Queen and foreign leaders, and front-row seats for himself and his Spanish wife, at the great social and state occasions. How very, very satisfying, at least for him

Many members of the public question whether our three professional political leaders have ever had the right grounding. None of them have ever held a normal job down, and struggled with day to day living costs.

Further in the case of Milliband and Clegg, whether their backgrounds puts them in the right mind set to represent the UK over our EU masters.

On his father's side of the family, Clegg is related to Kira von Engelhardt, daughter of a Russian baron of German, Polish, and Ukrainian origin,

Clegg's Dutch mother, Hermance van den Wall Bake, was interned, along with her family, by the Japanese military in Batavia (Jakarta) in the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia) during World War Two.

Clegg is multilingual: he speaks English, French, Dutch, German, and Spanish. He readily admits that his background has formed his politics. He says, "There is simply not a shred of racism in me, as a person whose whole family is formed by flight from persecution, from different people in different generations. It’s what I am. It’s one of the reasons I am a liberal." His Dutch mother instilled in him "a degree of scepticism about the entrenched class configurations in British society".

He is married to  Miriam González Durántez, a lawyer, and the daughter of a Spanish senator.

He was previously a Member of the European Parliament (MEP).

Miliband

Miliband is the younger son of Polish Jewish immigrants. His mother, Marion Kozak, a human rights campaigner, and early CND member, survived the Holocaust thanks to being protected by Poles. His father, Ralph Miliband, was a Belgian-born Marxist academic of Polish origin who fled with his parents to England during World War II.

Miliband has criticised Cameron for "sacrificing everything on the altar of deficit reduction", taking the normal Socialist route of borrowing and spending again, not having learnt from the excesses of Brown and Balls during the last government.

With their backgrounds how can you possibly expect them to think nothing but British, and in the interests solely of the UK.

Unfortunately the third member of the trio, Cameron, comes from a background, where he has never struggled to put food on the table. He talks glibly about “going out to work to advance yourself”, but when there is no work to be had, he seems to be more interested in promoting gay marriage than to being solely committed to job creation.

Do politicians ever listen to the population they are elected to represent?

It is no wonder that UKIP is so popular, when we have three politicians who are so completely out of touch with the needs and wishes of the population that they swore to represent.
